SKIN HEALTH H2O

SKIN HEALTH H2O

Globally, over 800 million people live in communities without access to clean or safe water.  There are more people with smart or mobile phones in their hands than clean water taps in their homes.  The water crisis is a public skin health crisis.  Poor hygiene and sanitation practices and lack of access to clean water sources are major causes of skin diseases and major threats to public health. Providing clean water systems and training educators and community leaders on basic skin health hygiene is critical to solving this public health crisis.

INDIA and COLOMBIA

In India, there are over 150 million people living without access to clean water, affecting most underserved communities across the country. In Colombia, more than 15% percent of villagers in rural areas don’t have clean water to drink or wash.  In partnership with WATERAID USA, NYDG Foundation will deliver SKIN HEALTH H20, its signature skin health training program for community leaders and educators in Asia and South America. The program includes providing clean water systems, skin hygiene training modules and skin health interactive activities to change local attitudes and behavior towards hygiene and sanitation, skin health and ecosystems.

SKIN HEALTH H2O GOALS:

  • Improve clean water sources
  • Prevent skin diseases
  • Prevent public health crises
  • Bring awareness to the local communities on the importance of healthy ecosystems and skin health
  • Encourage volunteer youth groups to protect the environment
  • Promote gender equality
  • Increase the number of villagers washing their hands

By 2030, the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 6) aim to provide adequate and equitable sanitation and hygiene or handwashing facilities for all, especially for women and girls and those in vulnerable situations.  Be different. Make a Difference.  Help us bring clean water systems to those in need.  SKIN HEALTH MATTERS
